SCHOOL VIOLENCE CONTINUES TO BE A HUGE AND TERRIBLE PROBLEM
Do your very best to keep lines of communication open with your child. Be respectful and listen. If you do this every day naturally, your child may be more able and willing to share things they are worried about.

If you have guns in your home, keep them LOCKED UP! Know what is in your child's room! (Clean it together every week or two!) Know what your child is doing on Social Media. (YES, "snoop" if you have to; but try to simply ASK and expect them to share some stuff with you.) Keep them busy so they are not on Social Media for hours on end! Know where they are! Care where they are!
You are the parent. Even if your child is exasperating and annoying, there is no one else to care about them!
Sometimes you may be the only one to care about another person's child too. Stay alert, smile and be courteous at all times. Invite them for, or offer them a meal if they look hungry and sad. Don't hesitate to talk with school personnel if you are concerned a child is being neglected. You'll never know how many lives you saved!
